Not metered
A worked example: a 22 GB base with 45,000 attachments
A real recruiting base: 42,000 records and 45,700 attachments weighing 22 GB, most of them CVs and photographs attached to the same records again and again. Put it through each service’s meter, as published on 2026-10-06:
| Service | What the meter does with this base | A month |
|---|---|---|
| AirtableBackup | One base. The 22 GB is stored once by content and is not counted. Every change saved live, a full backup nightly, restores unmetered. | $19 |
| ProBackup | Storage is the meter, and the vendor says files are 90–95% of it, so 22 GB needs at least the 25 GB step on a plan whose base price is $25 to $69 a month; the per-step prices are not published. One real invoice for a base of this size was $56 a month. Daily backups only. | $56 (observed) |
| On2Air Backups | 45,700 attachments and 42,000 records fit the Professional tier, which is the first with daily backups and allows 5 restores a month. The 22 GB lands in your own Google Drive, Dropbox, Box or OneDrive, where it counts against that quota too. | $49.99 + your drive |
| Backup247 | Every published paid tier carries a 15 GB storage cap. 22 GB does not fit any of them and falls into the custom “Enterprise” tier, unpriced. | Not published |
Competitor figures from their own pricing pages on 2026-10-06; Backup247 publishes two price lists and ProBackup’s storage steps render only in the browser, so both are read as best they can be. The comparison pages carry the sources.
Questions
Billing, cancellation and what happens to your data
- One Airtable base, however many tables, records, fields or attachments it holds. The subscription quantity is the number of bases you connect; add or remove bases from Settings and the quantity follows.
- Nothing is charged, because no card was taken. If you have not subscribed, the account becomes read-only: backups stop, but you can sign in, browse every backup and the change history, and export any table as CSV for 30 days. Subscribe at any point to pick up where it left off.
- From Settings › Billing, through the billing portal. A cancellation takes effect at the end of the period already paid for. There is no cancellation fee and nobody to phone.
- One timeline, whichever way the subscription ends. Day 0 is the day a cancellation takes effect, the day a trial ends without a subscription, or the end of 14 days of grace after a payment did not go through (backups keep running through the grace period). From Day 0 the account is read-only for 30 days: browse and export, no restores. From Day 30 it is retained: nothing is readable, the data exists only so that subscribing again brings it back. On Day 90 it is deleted, permanently. Alert recipients are emailed on Day 0, on Day 30, and seven days before deletion. The retention policy is the full text.
- Paddle, as merchant of record. Paddle handles the card, sales tax and VAT, invoices and refunds under its own terms, shown at checkout. The price, billing period and taxes are shown before you subscribe.
- No. There is a 14-day trial of the whole product with no card, which is the honest version of a free tier: you see the actual product, on your actual base, at the actual backup speed, before paying anything.
- No. Attachments are stored once by content and are not counted. The history is kept whole for as long as the account is active. Restore as often as you need; a restore is the point.
